Yes, that's right! I'm writing a love letter to a backpack. But who can blame me? Considering that this backpack have lasted so long and with all the wonderful memories that I've spent with this sturdy thing.
Pros...
Lets just cut to the chase shall we? I've owned this backpack for... ohh... 6 years(!) and it still look as good as new. In fact, just the other day when I was telling my cousin that I'll be getting a new bag (another Jansport product). She was surprised since she thought that my backpack was new in the first place, and was also a little startled that I'm actually getting another one. You see, the Timberland one that she owne is already showing signs of tear after only 2 years of use. You're now probably thinking that I must take really good care of it, that's why she thought it was new, but frankly, I don't.
I've been through 4 years of high school and 2 years of university with this lovely backpack. During my high school years, I was extremely active and participated in many team sports. Thus, the bag's been with me to many different places; rain, snow, sand. Not only did I use it as a bookbag, I've also used it for travel too. And since I'm now far away from home, this bag is great on the plane. Not to mention my (almost) weekly commute to my uncle's house for free meals. And yes, I do like to workout, so this bag is also great to take to the gym with.
Cons...
Despite the durability and portability of this backpack, there are also minimal cons that you should be aware of. Firstly, there really aren't any good color combinations for this backpack. I mean, it only comes in solid color... but I guess many people wouldn't care too much about that. Secondly, the lack of compartments. The Jansport Amarillo only have 1 main compartment and a small one in the front. I'd personally prefer something with a little more features (hence, the new one), but what can I say, it's a classic. Thirdly, stronger zipper loop. Yeah, a stronger "loop." I recently broke it... but I might have been due to the excessive pulling on it with my metal keychain. Lastly, needs to be bigger. The main reason that I'm getting a new one is because this backpack is pretty small... I think I got the Medium.
My conclusion
Over all, this backpack is great. Jansport gives you a lifetime warranty knowing that it will last forever. If you just want backpack that will last a long time without the flashy stuff, this should be the bag for you. Just a final thought... the Amarillo offer sizes from M-XL. I guess I should have gotten the XL in the first place. But it's too late for that now.
