Jenga is a fun game to use for a rainy day.
The game consists of 54 wooden blocks stacked in many rows: three in one direction, three in the other on top of that, and alternating up the large tower.
The game comes essentially with the box, the block loading tower, and the blocks themselves. The directions are printed on the box.
In the game, the person who built the tower goes first. You pull a block out from any slot (except the very top row) and place it on the top of the tower. The game continues around the room until someone causes the tower to collapse, at which point they lose. Then, you need to rebuild the tower (which is a MEGA con--see below).
Jenga is overall a very fun and entertaining game. It has many strong points: It's simple, fun, durable, etc. You'd also have a difficult time losing any of the pieces, which is good.
The only bad thing about Jenga is the time required. You're easily investing 5 minutes to set-up the tower each time. I'm not that lazy, but it does get annoying to keep having to build it.
Jenga also becomes boring rather quickly, more so than other games. Have some other games handy if it's a long day!
The game itself is quite durable. My box (the box/loading tray are just thin cardboard, similar to light bulb packaging) has seen wear and no longer fully closes (the top closing flap has come off), but the bricks are pristine.
Jenga is absolutely appropriate for every age in the sense that there's nothing "bad" about it. But to truly do it right, I'd say ages 10+ (the box says 8+).
I recommend Jenga, because it's a fun rainy day activity. Unless you really don't feel like setting up the tower, of course.
