| heatherweller's Full Review: Jenga |
Jenga's charm comes from its simplicity and appeal to all ages. This isn't a game where Grandma's vocabulary or a block of questions from Aunt Myrtle's teen years will bore the younger set to tears. When it's rainy outside and you want to turn off the noise of that $*(#*$ video game, Jenga is what to pull out. (Just don't be surprised to hear moments of complete silence, broken by "ooooooh!" or "CRASH!")
The premise is simple - remove one of the stacked blocks and replace it on top; continue until someone knocks over the stack. Steady hands are a definite plus, but the reasoning to figure out which blocks are most likely to send the tower crumbling if removed is just as important.
This is the only game I've seen 5, 16, 20's, 30's, 40's, and 60 year old people playing together and all having as much fun. The games go quickly, the tension mounts, and at the end, there's a satisfying crash. :)
