I think I bought this game as an "extra" present one year for Christmas - you know, one of those to have just in case someone you weren't expecting a gift from gives you one. It sat in the closet for almost a year, and one day my then 5 year old son brought it out and opened it up and demanded a demonstration. He was not the same for a few months after that - every spare minute was spent improving his Jenga skills. Which, when you think about it, is NOT the worst way to spend his time.
Just in case you haven't seen the game, it is a stack of wooden blocks; three rectangular blocks are on each level, and the levels alternate in the direction they are facing. The object of the game is to remove a block from the lower levels and stack it on the top of the game. The person who knocks the stack of blocks over loses.
This game definitely improves a child's coordination and concentration - it takes a steady hand to complete your turn without knocking the stack of blocks over. I like it because it is relatively simple, without a million little pieces to lose like some children's games. Now that I have said that, I will admit that it is hard to find all of the Jenga blocks when they go flying as the tower falls - more than a couple have been found by our golden retriever, and chewed to bits.
I would recommend this game to anyone - my husband and I enjoy playing it almost as much as our son does.
