Pros: Remote,CD-R,motorized hide-away face...for a great price.
Cons: Front face feels a little flimsy. Not MP3 compatible
The Bottom Line: Its not a $300 stereo, but you won't pay nearly that! For the price, it's the best! You could easily write "Pioneer" on this and sell it for $100 more.
f_mayflower's Full Review: Audiovox CDH-1000 Car CD Player
I had purchased the CDH1000 at my local Wal-Mart. The main reason I purchased it was because of the motorized hide-away face. this was a feature that I have not seen available for this price before. At first the face seemed a little flimsy, but once it was installed it looked great. I kept my factory stereo installed above it, so if anyone looks in my car, all they'll see is my old tape deck.
The CDH1000 sould quality was not what I expected. It plays all my CD-R's better then my Kenwood I just took out. And, I don't have to carry a detachable face around with me. The only feature I didn't get that I wanted was MP3 CD capable, but I can live without that.
The options are all all the standards:Loud, Bass and treble control, etc. The LCD screen is nice to look at, it reminds me of the more expensive Rockford CD decks with the equalizer going with the music. Also, it comes with a full featured remote.
The motorization of the face is a great party trick, the motor makes a louder noise then expected, but the Cd eject is totally quiet, and it spits it right out at you in 1 second. I had to wait up to 15 seconds for a CD in my old Cd player.
The best part:if you bought it at Wal-mart, and it EVER breaks...ever..EVER in a million years..take it back (receipt, or no receipt) and Wal-mart will replace it as long as you look like you won't take "no" for an answer.
