| bkri4598's Full Review: Audiovox JW-120 Consumer Wireless Headphones |
The Wireless 120 System consists of a transmitter, receiver, earbud style headphones, and wiring hookups. The transmitter plugs into a wall outlet for it's power supply and has a flip up antenna, along with level and frequency fine tuning adjustment wheels, and a connector for charging the supplied AAA rechargeable batteries in the receiver. The receiver is about the size of a pager, extremely lightweight, and has no external antenna. It features a jack for the earbud headphones(or any other headphones),a secure belt clip that will not come loose,a volume control wheel, and a frequency wheel in order to match it with the transmitter. The wiring connectors for the transmitter can plug into a headphone jack (an adapter is included for the larger size found on most home receivers),or directly to the tape out or similar RCA stereo connectors on the back of an audio amp. I was somewhat disappointed with the low volume level using the supplied earbuds, but it helps keep the overall price down since you can use your favorite headphones with this setup. After plugging in a Sony headphone set from an older Walkman cassette player, I was able to increase the volume to where it was actually too loud.I would recommend getting some Sony Sport/Vertical or "w.ear" phones. The level control on the transmitter has to be adjusted to the incoming signal, and I found that using the RCA tape out connectors were a better choice than using the headphone jack because the level is constant and was not affected by volume or bass settings of my receiver. The Jensen Link System performed flawlessly with no signal dropouts around my house from room to room, and the antenna on the transmitter did not really even have to be flipped up.
