I bought my Jensen wireless headphones because the price was much less expensive than comparable brands. My partner likes to stay up late watching television and I thought this would make a great gift for both of us. What I failed to find out, however, was whether our TV had a headphone or audio output jack. Imagine my disappointment when it had neither!!
So, here I am with this cool looking 'gadget' and not able to use it for the purpose that I purchased it. Returning it was out of the question since I bought it off e-bay and it was, after all, MY mistake for not checking to see if my TV was appropriate to the product. To find out if it worked, I decided to plug it into my stereo.
The set up seems easy, however, it did not work using the two prong included attachment that goes into the audio output connector. It also did not work using the headphone jack of the amplifier on my stereo system. BUT, it DID work when plugged into the headphone jack of the CD player (which is what I was listening to). It took a few minutes to find the right "channel" (the headphones have a channel and audio control and you scroll through to match the frequency of the output).
Once I did tune in, there was a lot of static. I found that where you place the receiver had much to do with how clear the signal is ~ the higher and freerer of obstacles the better. Fortunately, the Jenson does have fairly long attachment cords to the electrical outlet and to the stereo (or other audio source) ... but still not long enough to get totally clear reception.
I wondered outside with it on and was pretty impressed to be able to take my smooth jazz CD outside like that. But once I rounded the corner and moved out into the yard the static increased to where the sound was pretty distorted. Maybe I was out of the 150' range?! At one point I thought why not just have a portable CD player rather than deal with this ... because, of course, I didn't buy it to use with my stereo ... but that's a different story.
For the money it's great. If you want it for your TV then I'd recommend it for sitting in bed where the TV is just across the room - but make sure your TV has either an audio output or headphone jack first! Thanks for rating if this was helpful to you!
