| holyoakn's Full Review: Jergens Skin Smoothing Lotion |
My Experience:
Jergens Lotion is what I always remember using growing up. My mother always had a bottle of it sitting on her country in the bathroom. Even as a young child, I liked using it. Now that I have grown and moved away from home, I still find myself using Jergens Lotion. I loved this product back when, but I love it even more now. I use Jergens lotion on my whole body. I like the way that it makes my skin so smooth. I use it mostly on my hands, because they get the driest, but I also use it everywhere else. Especially during the wintertime when my skin is extremely dry. It quickly relives that itchy irritating feeling.
It comes in a stand up white bottle with purple and lilac accents. On the top is a pump lid for easy asses. With a pump lid, you don¡¯t have to deal with opening and closing a lid.
Jergens Lotion states:
That its lotion contains Beta and Alpha hydroxyl plus vitamin E, it gently exfoliates unsightly dry flakes and leaves your extra dry skin looking and feeling touchably soft and healthy.
Vitamin E is important in lotion because it wards off dry skin. Jergens lotion also smells better than just rubbing your hands in Vitamin E oil.
About the Product:
The lotion is of a medium consistency. Its color is a white creamy color. Once it is rubbed in, it turns clear then disappears. It absorbs into your skin quickly. So when your skin hurt because it is so dry, it brings relief quickly. The lotion is slightly oily but once it is rubbed in completely that feeling disappears and your skin is left feeling soft and silky.
You can find this product at any local grocer, pharmacy, or discount store. It comes in many different sizes; the trial size 1 ounce, 10 ounce and 16 ounce sizes are available.
How it works:
Alpha Hydroxy and Beta Hydroxy work together to remove skins out cells and prevent skin disturbance. However too much exfoliating is not good for your skin. So-how well do they work? Over time not that well. Studies show that removing the out most layer of the skin stimulates cell growth, causing the skin to thicken and erase fine lines and wrinkles. But over time your skins cells will not continue to divide making skin easily wrinkled, sensitive, and blotchy.
Most products like these do not carry a high concentration of either acids but you may want to reconsider how many products you use containing Alpha hydroxy acids. You might end aging your skin a lot faster than if you had just left well enough alone.
