I discovered Kristin Hersh, the Nields, and the ever-amazing folksinger Dar Williams by buying their albums for my Mom, then coming to love their work at least as much on my own. It's a good practice. Jill Speer doesn't sound so much like my time of musician, but i'll give her site's songs a listen after all. Maybe they'll be perfect for someone, at least, and i always did like the activist sorts.
