I have never been a fan of mascara. So more often than not, I end up using it for a while and then it gets thrown underneath my vanity until I either go in search for it again or do some cleaning. I bought Maybelline Great Lash Mascara about 4 months ago. I remembered using it once before a long time ago, and could not remember why I had never bought it again.
I purchased this mascara at my local drugstore when I happened to catch it on sale. The packaged touted it as being voted Allure Editors’ Choice Award, so I figured it couldn’t be all that bad. The pink container with the twist off green wand cap comes in the .43 fl. oz. size. I bought my Maybelline Great Lash Mascara in the soft black shade (175M-05). This mascara is available in a washable, waterproof, and curved brush formula.
Maybelline claims that this washable mascara conditions as it thickens. It also claims that there is no clumps, no globs with this product. Maybelline uses a lash-doubling formula and a lash-building brush that is supposed to make this mascara go on smoothly and easily.

Upon using Maybelline Great Lash Mascara again, about four months ago, I realized why I hadn’t bought the mascara again until then. And I realized why I had thrown it under my sink and went back to Almay One Coat Mascara. I have had a much better experience with Almay, even though I tend to like Maybelline’s products.
A few things that drew me towards Maybelline Great Lash Mascara is the fact that it has been around awhile and made from a reputable company. It also stated that it was safe for contact lens’ users and hypoallergenic. I do have to say that I have not experienced any problems with my contact lens while using this mascara.
I found that applying this mascara was easy enough. I simply coated my lashes with the applicator provided, going from the root to tip of my lash. One coat was quite enough for my lashes, but if you need to apply another coat, you just have to wait for this stuff to dry. And I hope you’re not in any kind of hurry. I found that it would take a much longer time for this mascara to dry than with my Almay One Coat Mascara. The first couple of times I used this stuff, I ended up with lash marks underneath my eyes from blinking. So beware, you cannot blink for at least 5-7 minutes after applying this mascara, or you’ll have to start all over again. Don’t even get me started on the clumping problem.
Maybelline claims that this mascara removes easily with soap and water. I don’t know what kind of soap and water that Maybelline tested this with, but I guess my water is not made like the water they used. I always had a heck of a time removing this mascara from my lashes, not to mention that it would smear all over my skin in the process. I guess that’s why it claims to be waterproof…it’s so waterproof that you have to scrub your eyes out to wash it off.
You can purchase Maybelline Great Lash Mascara at most drugstores, supermarkets, and mass retailers…as well as online at Drugstore.com and
CVS.com. I purchased this mascara for around $3.99 on sale and had an extra $1 coupon. I’m glad that I found it on sale and had monies off also because I would never have been able to justify the price of this stuff, even though it is not expensive at all.
Sorry Maybelline, but I just cannot recommend this stuff. Though I do have to say that I have seen this stuff in a few make-up boxes of the make-up artists that I have come in contact with. So apparently some people like this product.
