Pros:5 speed mower, Self-Propelled, that really works
Cons:none
The Bottom Line: it simply does what its supposed to do
There is nothing quite so satisfying as a well manicured lawn. All the better if I do it myself, even though I am the age of most fossils.
What I can’t tolerate though is a mower that doesn’t start first time every time - hells bells, pulling that cord once is enough.
Our old machine had served us well over many years, but it had got to the wheel falling off, start me if you can stage. I had expended enough energy to mow the lawn three times before I got the rotten thing started. And the reward - a cloud of smoke big enough to cause rain.
My neighbor, the nosy one, had bought a John Deere - I knew because I used to watch the nosy creep through a whole in the fence - hell was he sickening, walking up and down behind it with his head in the air. He even would polish the damn thing afterwards.
When he went out at 3pm and came back at 5 he was obviously going to a gym because he was much fitter than he used to be - pushing this new mower of Mr. Nosy’s was much easier for the old sod.
Anyway I could stand his parading no more so I went to look at mowers. Well there were heaps and then I saw it JX75, letters and number I just by chance noticed through the hole in the fence when old nosy went past. Of course I asked to be told about it - would you believe the old nosy geezer through..er over the fence was cheating - it is self propelled!!!
So why was he going to the gym? ? Beats me - and get this, its got 5 speeds, from fossil following up to Olympian following.
And the engine - I swear it has enough power to run the car, which could be handy actually.
There’s a mulching kit it comes with, but you have to buy it as a separate item, which I did, so she who knows everything could feel part of the action.
For your techno buffs heres all the good oil on what makes it work.
The John Deere JX75 has an overhead valve, 6 hp,4-cycle engine with full-pressure lubrication for long life. It is self-propelled, 5 speed, gear driven transaxle. Also has a BBC safety system (keeps engine running after operator-presence control is released). Recoil starter, Seven cutting heights: .5 to 3.5 inches. Mulch, bag and blow capabilities. High quality deck is cast aluminum. Total Weight 100 lbs.
WHAT IS WARRANTED - All parts of any new John Deere product, except tires, radios, and batteries, are warranted for the number of months or operating hours specified below. John Deere Hand Held-Portable products are covered by a separate warranty. Warranty statements required by law covering engine emission-related parts and components are found in the operators manual.
For the rest of us its either going or broken.
Tell you what though, I’ll bet that part of me I should never bet that this thing will be going a long time.
For those who haven’t got one, suffer in silence please.
