Pros: Your neighbors turn green with envy.
Cons: Expensive and there so pretty you will hate to get it dirty
The Bottom Line: The biggest reason to pay the extra and get a Deere is quality.It is a product that still has quality.Hard to find that these days

I recently purchased the LX277 to replace my 10 year old LX178 Johndeere that was a excellent lawn tractor and very simiular to this one.I am a Johndeere fan from way back.
The LX277 is from the top of the line LX series models from Johndeere.It is powered by a Kawasaki 17hp twin cylinder engine that is both very quite and smooth.You will not find a more quite engine.Both because of the engine it self and the xieon polimer hood found on the LX277 that deadens the noise.Sounds just do not go through the hood like on a metal hood tractor.This engine is also plenty of power to handle the different mower decks that are availabe for this model.I have the 48C deck the biggest available.There is also a 42C or a 42freedom mulching deck available.The 48C does a very nice even cutting job.Looks like a carpet when im done.
The tractor is comfortable to operate with the high back seat that is adjustable.There is plenty of room for my long legs.Johndeere alway did have more room the most other brands.The seat also has adjustable suspension for firmness.Making it a pleasure to operate.The hydro transmission is a foot control type.That leaves your hands free to steer.However it has cruise control for the wide open spaces so you can move you foot around.The controls are very well laid out the throttle is at easy reach along with a seperate choke control.That is spring loaded so when you release the choke it goes back on it own.There is a 13 position height control.To dial in the mowing height to the desired position.Also a hour meter to keep track of when to service the tractor and deck.
Servicing the tractor is easy to get at the engine.Because the hood and sides are one piece and lift up to get at every thing under the hood.The engine is a full pressure system.Meaning it has a oil filter just like your car.Removing the mower deck to clean or sharpen blades is also easy.No tools required just release the belt tension lever.Then slide the belt from the pulley.Then move a lever up front to release the front bracket and the pull to hook pins and slide the deck out.Takes just a few minutes.
The reason I went with a Johndeere was because of past expierence and always had very good luck.Plus there still worth something at trade in time.I recieved nearly 1/2 the original price for my 10 year old trade in.With other brands they will not take them on trade and if they do.You will not get much for them.Plus 10 years on most brands and there near the end of there life.But a Johndeere will last for many more years if there well taken care of.
I am very proud of my Johndeere and my neighbors know this.They would never ask to borrow it.I would tell them to get there own.Hard to explain the feel of a Johndeere.But they just handle better then the others.I should know I own a different brand that is also new.Plus I have either owned or operated just about every kind made.The saying nothing Runs Like a Deere is very true.Sure they cost more but they also last longer.There also just a beutiful tractor.They have a better fit and finish then the other rattle traps I have been around.
