First things first, gentle readers. My hair sucks. Sure, once I've gone throught "the process" as I affectionately call it, It looks moderately to quite good. However, the process itself sucks. I have to wash and condition daily (I can't ever pull off a non-hairwashing day. Number one, I think most curly-heads and wavy-heads know why, but for those of you belssed with straight hair: You have to get it wet and dry it naturally or with a defuser or it looks like crap. Secondly, I use so much product throughout the day that I'd be a dirty girl if I didn't wash it every day. Anyway.)
Aside from the regular wash/condition, I also have to use a deep conditioner. Then I have to put in something that makes combing easier (I like Frizz Ease Secret Weapon...even though the product is intended to help you out after you're hair is "dry and parched") THen comb. Then mouse. Then crunch. Then dry a little. Hairspray. Reapeat mouse and/or hairspray step when hair falls flat later on. So, as you see, the wavy hair curse is not that much fun. Sure, it looks nice for the first hour or so after your hair is dry. But to maintain the look, its a pain in the behind.
So...when I read an article that said sea-salt is good for this styling dilema, I was skeptical. Something that dries out hair? On my wavy-frizz-prone head? It said, though, that the idea was to use the natural drying qualities in sea salt to block the moisture that causes frizz....That makes sense...So I figured I'd give it a shot.
I've been pretty impressed with the result. It does give the hair a "beachy" look. If your hair is already wavy, it holds the wave without making it dry or crunchy like most styling aids. I've heard that it makes straight hair just very slightly wavy. One of my favorite things about this product is that it provides you with some hold, but it never makes your hair "crunchy" like hairspray, mousse or gel.
To use the product, simply shake it up to mix, spray on hair wet or dry, and you're golden. It seems to keep my hair wavy and hold the style fairly well, but I do need to reapply throughout the day a few times. However, if you don't use to much, a few mistings a day won't hurt. (Your hair that is...your wallet may be hurting at 6 bucks a bottle.)
Overall, I'm really impressed with this product. Sea salt really does work at keeping frizz under control and holding a loose, beachy look. It also smells really good...sort of like a pina colda. Mmmmm pina colda!
