Pros: Just to say you stood in a long line to experience their pizza.
Cons: Waiting in a long line for soggy, mediocre, gimmicky pizza.
The Bottom Line: Forget it. Save your time and money. Go somewhere else.

| critic27's Full Review: John's Pizzeria |
I went several times to John's Pizza (between 1999-2003): to their original restaurant and to their branch in the Theater District.
THE FOOD: The pizza was soggy, even when I requested it to be "well done". All the pizzas I've had there would have been good if the staff were not in such a rush to get you the food so they can free up the tables for the guests waiting in line. They prematurely take the pizzas out of the oven, ergo, soggy pizza where the topping(s) fall off the moment you pick the slice. Plus, the crust is rather bland (I've had pizza where the entire pizza was tasty: both topping AND crust).
THE STAFF: Rushed service. It's really hard to get their attention if you need anything extra, like more napkins. Again, you can tell the waitstaff are more focused on processing your order to free up the table as quickly as possible.
THE AMBIENCE: The original restaurant is a hole-in-the wall, resembling a Mom and Pop eatery of yesteryear. It's cramped, crowded, loud and dingy. The restaurant in the Theater District is very large (two floors) and decorated nicely, although very cluttered-looking. It can be pretty noisy here, too, since it's a bit like a upscale cafeteria. For both places, you can expect a line during the lunch and dinner rush.
THE PRICE: A bit above normal pizzeria prices, since they've expanded to several restaurants. (My cheap pizza would be Pizza Hut or Dominos).
THE MENU: You can choose toppings for the pie or order one of their specialty pies. I just don't remember what they specifically offered.
CONCLUSION: John's Pizzeria is a good place in name only. They once made a good pie but not anymore. It's a gimmick and tourist trap now. (I've asked someone who's had their pizza 10 or so years ago compared to now, he said it's no longer good.)
