Everybody knows New York is the world's best city for pizza, and John's Pizzeria is the best of the best, hand's down.
The food:
Coal-brick oven pizza with any number of toppings, John's pizza is pure magic. The tomato sauce is high quality and mouth-watering. The crust is just right, thin with a little bit of crisp and of course, the powdery dough that comes off on your fingers. The cheese is also exceptional, but in my mind it's the sauce and the crust that make this pizza what it is. Plain or with a whole mess of toppings, you cant go wrong at John's. I recommend ordering more than you think you can eat. In general there small pizzas of six slices are easy for you and a friend to put away. Just order a large and take any leftovers home for breakfast. Be sure to order a pitcher of soda or beer to wash it all down. Also, John's does not deliver, but you can call ahead for a take-out order.
The ambiance at John's is cozy and makes for a great pizza-place type atmosphere. The walls are filled with celebrity-signed photos singing the praises of John's. Located in the West-Village, John's is a great place to go if you are visiting New York and want to have a great meal and see a great part of the city.
After dinner, I recommend having some ice cream two doors down in the East direction.
Finally, prices are fine, no problem whatsoever. You'd expect that the best pizza place in the city would charge more, but they don't, so eat up! If you're going around dinner time, be prepared to wait outside, sometimes as much as 25 min. But I assure you, it is well worth it.

When you go, be careful because there are a couple other pizza places on the same block, including one called Joe's Pizza, and you dont want to wind up at the wrong one!
