Sometimes you buy something with the intention of it being used one way and one way only. But come on folks, we are talking about a sex toy here so that pretty much means that all the rules are already out the window so let's not mince words. It sucks being alone sometimes, Tommy does a lot of long hauls in the winter so I'm left with a stack of DVD's to watch and gifts from previous CES shows to try out. After living a stones throw from the San Fernando Valley in California and routinely seeing adult features being filmed 'live', it's not that big a deal to walk into an adult bookstore and ogle the new wares. I'd heard a lot about "the bullet" and how good it can feel if it's used the right way. I wasn't aware that there was a wrong way to use a vibrator unless you tried to wedge it into an opening that it clearly wasn't meant for but I digress. The Bullet is one hell of an impressive vibrator and you might just turn a few shades of red when you read what we've accomplished with it.

Power & Speed. I am not a huge fan of things that plug into an electrical socket and are then placed in or on my body. Couple that with the occasional ejillulation and you have one very freaked out freak. This is powered by three batteries AA sized batteries that should give you about ten hours of operation time. We do not replace the batteries when they start to die or lose force; the Bullet is usually trashed by that point in time and it's easier to just get a new one. This isn't something for novices; it has a lot of power behind it and will produce an orgasm in about thirty seconds, if not less. You can adjust the speed of the vibration from the remote control or take a walk on the wild side and leave that up to your partner. This has three speeds to it, generally the first and second setting are enough for either of us but the third has been used for [cough] special occasions.

What's the best way to use this? Humm, I am going to have to get creative with the descriptions as the content filter will only allow the most tame of terms. Most people will use a Bullet when they are engaging in vaginal sex and insert it into the anal tract; that isn't carved in stone and it isn't the only way that it can be used. 75% of the time, that's how the Bullet is used in this house but there are time when we switch it up and it gets used vaginally when we are having anal sex. This brings up the issue of general common sense. You aren't going to want to remove this from the anus and put it into the vagina without cleaning it; most of the time when we get a new Bullet we christen it vaginally to avoid any type of cross contamination.

Can guys make use of this? Of course. Because of the small size it isn't impossible to use it anally on a man and let me just step over the bounds of decency here, if you are going oral on a guy and press this against his nether region [or if he is willing, insert it] it will produce an extremely powerful orgasm. This is a great time to mention the cord; it is long and attaches to the remote control box that you use to change or vary the speed of the Bullet. For guys that cling to the "my butt is for exit only" mode of thought, giving them the control over this can make a world of difference. Has Tommy been so daring? Well, to some degree but he still has some hurdles to overcome but I am sure that in due time he will be enjoying this just as much as I do.

You aren't limited to just the silver color; the Bullet comes in basic shades like red, green, blue and yellow as well as a gold tone. They are all made the same way and come in the same size and they all have the generous 25 foot long cord. That might sound like overkill but it does come in handy when you want to spring an attack on someone; you can be safely across the room when you power it up and let me just say, if you tuck this between someone's legs when they are sleeping then turn it on the lowest setting, they aren't going to be sleeping for very long. This isn't all that loud once it is inserted into a body cavity but it can be a tad bit annoying if you are using it on the surface of the skin.

Can it get lost? I have had a lot of people ask me that. No. The cord is firmly and securely attached to the Bullet [also called an egg by some people] and unless you are shoving it so far into the body that it will get wedged [almost impossible to do] there's no chance of it 'getting lost'. Sure, everyone hears the funny stories about the person that stumbles into the emergency room with a vibrator lodged in some part of their body but there is a huge difference between a Bullet and a regular vibrator. Since this is only two inches long and not all that wide [about three inches around] it is a great starter item for anal pleasures but you do have to take it slow and easy with the speed aspect of things.

Most places sell the basic Bullet for about $15.00; you can get them less if you are buying wholesale but we aren't going through one a week so that really isn't an option for us. One of these usually lasts us a month or so and while it would save money to replace the batteries, I feel a little safer just getting a new one. There are also sleeves and toys that you can insert a Bullet into so if you ever get bored with it, there are ways to spice things up even more. For the price, the Doc Johnson Bullet is the best way to go. We have never had any problems with the cords being defective or them being dead out of the package. It is small enough to allow newbies to explore without being overwhelmed and it is a product that, well, really makes me smile.

The Bottom Line

Common sense plays a huge part in exploring new avenues of sexual pleasures. You can't force someone into trying something new and expect them to be at ease with it. This can be used vaginally or anally but as I mentioned, you do have to make sure that cross contamination isn't an issue and that it gets cleaned when it is used. If you've never used a vibrator this might be a good pick but clitoral sensitivity is something to consider. While it might sound like it’s a joke, if you use this for extended periods of time you can desensitize parts of the body and make it that much harder to have an orgasm.
