The memory of about two years ago is still vivid in my mind. I used to wear glasses... That is, only sometimes I did. Life was a real pain when I wore glasses only some of the time. That's because I looked bad in glasses! So, one day I decided that it was time for contacts. So I went to the opthamologist. They tried on two different brands of contacts, one in each eye. In the left eye, they put a contact that felt comfortable. In the right eye, they put in a contact that made my eye red, puffy, and also made it water! At the same time, my older sister also received contacts. So then they told me that in the left eye was an Acuvue 2 contact, and in the right was some other brand, which I don't remember. My sister went with the other brand, and I obviously went with the Acuvue 2.
-They Last, And Aren't Too Expensive-
*The Acuvue 2 lenses cost me about $21 per box. I buy them directly from my optometrist, rather than buying them off the internet. The difference in price is about $3 or so. They can be purchased for $18 from the cheapest website. They are expected to last a total of 2 weeks. However, I can wear them for months at a time! Many people actually wear contacts for months at a time. I have seen other brands that are more expensive, such as Biocompatibles, which was actually used in my right eye. Acuvue 2 lenses are the most popular among wearers, and their not-such-high cost makes this one reason as to why that is.
-Built Like A Tank!-
*The Acuvue 2 lenses very thin. That's what makes them so confortable. But despite their thinness, they are very difficult to break! I've never had an experience of a contact breaking apart in my eye. I do know people that have had such experiences, and I'm glad I don't know what that pain feels like. They last for a couple months or so of fine wear. Most users dispose of their contacts ever 2 weeks, but the Acuvue 2 should be able to even last for months of adequate wear. The neat thing about the Acuvue 2 is that even if you pull on them, they won't rip. That is unless you pull very hard! But they can fall in places, and they won't rip or scratch or anything. They are built to last.
-What's In My Eyes?-
*The Acuvue 2 feel like there's... Ummmm... Well, it feels almost if there is nothing in your eyes. The spokespeople in the ads claim that the Acuvue 2 feel incredibly comfortable. Do they live up to their standards? Yes, they actually do! Many users who have sensitive eyes turn to the Acuvue 2 contacts. I would've been very upset if I was wearing other contacts. Oh wait, I wouldn't have been able to tolerate them at all! My sister switched after about a month to the Acuvue 2 contacts. She's very happy with them, just like me. If you have sensitive eyes, and still want contacts, the Acuvue 2 are a great choice. They are very "EYE FRIENDLY".
-The Downside-
*There's one thing that slightly bothers me about the Acuvue 2. They lack water retention like that of other thicker contacts. This means that they get drier more quickly than other contacts. Most of the time I get through the entire day with no dryness problems. Once you get used to them, you should feel the same. However, on some days, they just dry up and begin to get blurry. This gets to be annoying, but can easily be corrected with re-wetting drops, or simply taking out the contact and re-inserting it with more saline solution. This is the only thing that I didn't like about the Acuvue 2, but other than that, they are great.
-The Verdict-
*The Acuvue 2 are some of the best, if not the best contacts on the market. They are worth each and every cent of the $18 to $21 that you're spending on them. They correct your vision, which is the important thing. But they do that with extreme comfort. Yes, they do get dry, but lots of contacts do. These problems are easily correctible. Also, the Acuvue contacts are available in different colors, which is cool. I just prefer to use clear contacts though. So, if you want very comfortable contacts at a nice price, then you should really look into the Acuvue 2. Just ask your opthamologist or optometrist for more information if you need it.
