Pros: Absorbs Well, Cheap-ish, Soft, Comfortable to wear.
Cons: STICKS LIKE CRAZY to open wounds...so use over cuts, etc.
Since I have a NuBurn, I went out and found some NuGauze. This is one of the few types of gauzes I picked out before I realized I needed non-stick.
Johnson & Johnson Says:
All purpose sponge for cleaning and dressing wounds.
Absorbs fluid quickly, & Protects and cushions.
Non-woven fabric construction of this sponge provides superior absorbency and strength.
This product is excellent for cleaning, as well as protecting wounds.
Effective wicking action and wound release, Less linting and fraying than gauze.
When I read the above description of the package, I was suckered into buying these. They sounded like what I needed and wanted. I picked up a box and headed for the checkout.
When I got home, I opened up the box and they were, like the plain gauze, individually wrapped and sealed. I removed one pack from the box and trimmed it to size.
I applied my RX burn cream and laid on the NuGauze. I securely taped it down and went on. It was not like gauze, it was more padded and fluffy, like a non-linting cotton ball. It did not pull or leak.
Later, when it came time to change the dressing, I removed the tape and then the gauze. The NuGauze did not want to come off the burn, and stuck. I simply ran water over it, and it came right off.
Besides the sticking, the gauze absorbed all the drainage and ointment extras. It protected my burn, cushioned it, and did not leak or tug on the delicate skin once.
Since then, I have used these pads on a couple of other injuries. A cut on my arm, and a knee abrasion from a fall. It worked extremely well and kept the area dry and did not stick at all. I was very happy with its performance on these wounds, so I would most likely purchase NuGauze again.
I would recommend these NuGauze pads to people that have small semi-closed wounds with some bit of drainage. They work extremely well and feel very comfortable during wear.
Thanks For The Read!!!
