Pros: Baby soft skin, absorbs easily, wonderful smell, not greasy, a versatile product
Cons: Why do so many companies test on animals?!
The Bottom Line: This is a very versatile lotion that moisturises well without leaving a greasy film and you can use it on yourself to keep skin soft, smooth and silky!

| cheekypig's Full Review: Johnsons Baby Lotion Original |
OK, so I admit...I'm not a mother and don't have a baby (I'm still young!), but that doesn't stop me from using Johnson's Baby Lotion: Original. I just couldn't help myself from buying it! And seeing as my normal body moisturiser was almost used up, I needed a new one that wouldn't hurt my bank account (my other moisturiser was too expensive for my tight budget). So instead, I picked up this cheap bottle of Johnson's Baby Lotion: Original.
The Product:
Johnson's Baby Lotion comes in a pale pink plastic bottle with a darker pink top made of harder plastic. The bottle is slightly square-ish, but is more of a rounded shape. It has a flip top lid and you just squeeze the fairly thick lotion out of the small opening.
The lotion itself is a pale pink and smells absolutely wonderful! It's a very recognizable scent for a baby product. Whenever I smell it, it reminds me of when my dad used to slather it on me when I was just a baby.
The texture is quite nice too, it's a smooth, slightly creamy, but light lotion and isn't all that runny.
On their site, it states that it is:
- A fast-absorbing formula with rich emollients leaves skin feeling soft and smooth, not greasy
-Clinically proven to be gentle and mild
-Hypoallergenic, allergy and dermatologist-tested
It's cheap and you can find it in the baby aisle at the supermarket, at pharmacies, there's a lot of shops that sell Johnson's baby products! The bottle I have right now is a 200ml one, but you can find other bottle sizes too - bigger ones for the whole family to use, or smaller ones that are best suited to chuck in your purse.
Directions:
On the back of their pink bottle, it tells you to
"Apply lotion to cotton wool and cleanse the nappy area ensuring all the tiny folds are well cleansed. Use after bath to keep skin soft and protected."
Obviously, I do not apply to 'the nappy area'! Instead, after having a bath or shower, I slather on a generous amount of this lotion all over my body. I also apply it every night just before hopping into bed. I always wake up with soft, smooth skin.
Ingredients:
Water, Propylene Glycol, Myristyl Myristate, Glyceryl Stearate, Oleic Acid, Stearic Acid, Polysorbate 61, Dimethicone, Isopropyl Palmitate, Stearoxytrimethylsilane, Sorbitan Stearate, Cetyl Alcohol, Synthetic Beeswax, Stearyl Alcohol, Benzyl Alcohol, Carbomer, Fragrance, Methylparaben, Propylparaben, Butylparaben, BHT, D&C Red 33
My Experience:
Like I said, I apply it every night and after getting out of a shower or bath. It sinks into my skin straight away without having to rub and rub to get it to absorb. It also doesn't leave a greasy or oily residue. It just sinks into my skin like a breeze and I can just hop into bed without worrying that my bed sheets will get all greasy. All I'm left with is baby soft skin that, for a baby product, is very moisturising. I don't have dry body skin, just normal, and this gives me enough moisture without being greasy.
This is also a very versatile product:
First of all, you can cleanse with it(with or without water). With water, just massage it into skin, and rinse off, and without water, just apply to skin and tissue off.
It can also be used as a makeup remover. Just squirt it onto a cotton ball/pad and wipe all over the face to get all of the makeup off, along with dirt and grime. It's also gentle on your eyes and doesn't sting if you get some into your eyes.
Some people have used it as a shaving cream - but personally, I have not done that. They say that it is great on sensitive legs and moisturises them at the same time without getting any nicks or cuts.
This is also great for moisturising all over! It's suitable for your face, is great for your body and you can use it after washing your hands to keep them smooth and soft.
And of course, this can be used for your baby!
The only thing that's 'wrong' with this product, is that it is tested on animals! If the company didn't test on animals, this would be my all time favourite body moisturiser!
But overall, since this is such a versatile product, it would be great item to take with you when traveling or weekends away. However, if you have really dry skin, this probably wouldn't be all that great at keeping it moist - you'll probably need something heavier, but I sill recommend this product a lot, especially for all it's other uses!
