Several months ago my two year old daughter decided that bath time was no longer fun and that she was going to throw a fit every time it came time to wash her hair. Tired of the screams, I started looking for something to make the process at least a little easier. Given the success of our Johnson’sŪ Buddies Conditioner I thought the matching Johnson’s Buddies Instant Foam Shampoo would be a great start. Once again, Johnson’s came through for us and once again bath time is fun!
JOHNSON’S BUDDIES
Johnson’s has developed a complete line of bath products for toddlers who still need the assurance of a no tears formula but who have moved beyond the baby bath products. The line includes:

Each product is brightly packaged with a buddies graphic to help make bath time more fun (in this case a claw foot bath tub with a face, washing its hair). Both my two year old and my five year old refer to their shampoo and conditioner as their buddies and they like to insist on helping out with the hair washing. The no more tears formula in each product obviously works because they can generate quite the mess by the time they are finished and neither kid complains about soap in her eyes!
THE CONTAINER
Johnson’s Buddies Instant Foam Shampoo comes in a 248 mL bright yellow bottle with a slight ridge along one side to make it easier for little hands to grasp. It also has a pump which dispenses shampoo in the form of foam, much like the Johnson's Buddies Foam Blaster Hand Soap. I was pleased to find that it dispenses exactly the right amount of foam for hair washing and my kids are both able to dispense the shampoo on their own. After all our battles over hair washing, the fact that they finally wanted to wash their hair was overshadowed by the fact that they weren’t quite big enough to do a good job with the rinsing. That’s where the easy-rinse factor comes in.
THE SHAMPOO
The fact that this shampoo is dispensed as foam makes the whole rinsing process so much easier. The foam is a perfect consistency, not too runny and not too thick. It lathers very nicely and rinses out completely with only minimal tears in our house (tears usually flow because I insist that I help rinse, not because of hair washing in general). When this shampoo is followed by Johnson’sŪ Buddies Conditioner and Johnson’sŪ Kids No More Tangles Spray, we have very few tangle issues. Hair comes out smooth and manageable.
THE SCENT
I often buy products based solely on scent, so I was pleased to find that this had a pleasing fruity scent that reminds me of Juicy Fruit gum for some reason. It isn’t too strong and rinses away leaving hair smelling clean, but not fruity. I wish it lingered a little longer, but the smell in the bathroom just after the girls are finished washing their hair is heavenly!

MY RECOMMENDATION
I didn’t expect such a small bottle to last this long. It’s been months and there’s still shampoo left. Because such a small amount is used, and because the shampoo is dispensed as foam, a little goes a very long way. I bought our bottle on sale for $3.49 CAD and will happily buy the same brand again next time just for the easy rinse factor. Once again, Johnson’s has stopped the bath time tears.
