Johnson’s Buddies Instant-foam Hand and Face Wash is a newer product on the marketed for toddlers who are working their way to becoming independent in the bathroom.
The Instant-foam Hand and Face Wash is in a blue 7.9 fluid ounce bottle with a curved side which makes it easy to hold. It has a wide nozzle pump so it would be easy for little hands to pump. The pump is designed well so shouldn’t break when knocked around and the foam comes out easily with each pump. Since the container is a solid blue container it can not be determined just by looking if the soap is about empty. It has an animated picture of a sink washing his face on the front so even a child that can not read will know what the product is for.
My 5-year-old daughter has been experimenting with her make-up lately so has an immediate need for face wash. She was very receptive to this and decides on her own when she needs to use it. She really likes the container and it is easy enough for her to use on her own. The same amount comes out with each pump so she counts out two squirts each time. She didn’t mind that it was in a blue bottle mostly because she knew that it was part of the Buddies series which each have their own color.
My son, age 11, didn’t have a problem using the soap either despite the obvious fact that it is for younger children. My son really digs the foam and prefers it over bar soap or soft soap. He prefers to use this as a face wash and does not use it at all as soap to wash his hands. He felt strongly that Kandoo is a better hand soap because he prefers the smell of Kandoo better.
He hasn't had liquid face wash before but he does prefer Johnson’s Buddies face wash over a traditional bar soap. He said most importantly that Johnson's Buddies doesn’t leave a nasty taste in his mouth that soap does. He also said that soap is slippery and hard to get off but the foam comes right off.
My 2-year-old still needs help in the bathroom but is intrigued by the foam on her hand. She likes to rub her hands together and feel the soap. The soap rinses off very easily.
I don’t notice any smell at all after they use the face wash. It has a light fresh smell to it which would be suitable for either a boy or a girl.
At first washing the face with this was a traumatic experience because the girls do not like things wiped on their face or water near their eyes. I showed them what to do the first time and then they began experimenting with it on her own and quickly got the hang of it. One thing that I noticed is that they usually get soap in their hairline which looks pretty bad. We do not use this in the bath, just after eating or playing outside. My kids use their hands to apply this; they don’t bother with a wash cloth.
This has the No tear formula but we have managed to keep it out the eyes so far.
Unfortunately both of my daughter’s have sensitive skin and both had red splotchy skin from this allergy-tested soap. It does have some fragrance in it. My son does not have sensitive skin and had no problem using the soap on his face.
This soap runs $2.99 or less and can be found in the children’s bath aisle at most stores. I haven’t seen a refill bottle for this yet but hope that I will in the near future. We go through a lot of soap with three kids and a lot of messes. This seems to be lasting just as long if not longer than the soft soap that this replaced.
Ingredients as quoted from the bottle: Water, Cocamidoproply Betaine, Polysorbate 20, Sodium Trideceth Sulfate, Tetrasodium EDTA, Polyquaternium-10, Quaternium-15, Citric Acid, Fragrance.
