| Suzer's Full Review: Joico Phine |
Constantly snooping around and on the lookout for a great conditioning product for my hair, I came upon Joico Phine in a local drugstore. My hair is shoulder length, fine, color treated monthly, plus quarterly highlighting. Additionally I do blow dry my hair the majority of the time after washing. Swimming and aquajogging is an integral part of my life the last year or so, and chlorine definitely leaves its mark on my hair.
I was impressed with the Joico Phine claims as they indicate that their chelating treatment will help hair that is exposed to chlorine & copper. It also has UV protection, so what else could you ever ask for (rhetorical question).
Packaging:
The bottle I purchased is pale, silver and cylindrical with
a blue ring around the cap, and says Phine in blue also. As this is the first time I purchased this conditioner I opted to get the smaller size, 5.2 oz for under $7.00.
Scent and consistency:
This conditioner has a very pleasant raspberry-like scent, and I found it to be medium in consistency, meaning it is not thick/heavy, nor is it thin and runny.
Directions for use:
They recommend amazingly, that you first use one of their products (Resolve) for shampooing. Keep in for 5 minutes and then rinse out entirely. They strongly suggest you use immediately after swimming to alleviate any possible damage from chlorine.
My experience and recommendations:
After returning home from swimming I decided to immediately take a bath and remove all the chlorine. I love perfumes and feminine scents, and somehow chlorine doesn't fit into that. I got my hair wet,and as I do not have Resolve in the house as they suggest, I used one of my Aussie Shampoo products. After rinsing I applied a little bit of the Phine and ensured my entire head was covered with it. After the 5 suggested minutes I rinsed it out entirely. It did not leave any reside, and left my hair easy to comb through. Following that I used an Aussie Mousse and used the blow dryer and my brush to get my hair in a doable state. Though it is in the 80's here in California, and I could easily let the air dry my hair, it looks horrible if I don't blow dry, and style it immediately. I found this conditioner to be good, and I do recommend it to those people who swim or have impurities in their hair that concern them, and also those who want the UV protection. While it did not enhance the sheen, or add volume, it did make it manageable and cooperative. This product does not excite me, but it is a good one for a selective number of people. Perhaps I would have had fantastic results if I used their Resolve Shampoo along with it, but I didn't choose to buy that also at this time. I am giving this conditioner 3 1/4 stars as a slightly above average product.
