I'm not a sour puss, but I sure like Joseph's sugar free lemon cookies!

Pros:Very nice lemon flavor and fragrance.
Cons:A bit more expensive than other sugar-free cookies.
The Bottom Line: If you like lemon-flavored treats, this is a very nice option for a sugar-free cookie.
I'm a big fan of lemon-flavored things. I like lemon cake, hard candies, and cookies. But I'm frequently disappointed in their flavor. I mean, whatever it is, it should smell and taste at least remotely like lemon!
I truly enjoy Joseph's Sugar Free Lemon cookies. They taste great, and make a terrific sugar-free treat! Joseph's Lite Cookies Company, based in New Mexico, makes several varieties of sugar-free cookies, syrups, and cakes. Joseph, the CEO, has had diabetes since childhood, and has dedicated his life to making tasty sugar-free treats. When it comes to taste, some are definitely better than others. I happen to think the lemon cookies are one of their best.
The cookies are small, only 1.5" diameter. Four cookies make a serving, which contains 95 calories, 5g of fat, 30 mg of sodium, and 0g of fiber. Of course, there are 0g of sugar. Approximately 11 servings come in the 11 oz. foil bag. There's no way to reseal the bag once it's opened. I emailed the company and asked if they were planning to add a zipper closure to their bags. I was happy that they responded right away, and thanked me for my wonderful idea. But they didn't actually answer the question. Still, I'm hopeful that one day these bags will be resealable.
The cookies are hard and crispy, not soft and chewy like some of their other varieties. They manage to be both sweet, and salty. They have just a touch of lemon flavor and fragrance, enough that you could identify the flavor of lemon, even if you didn't know what it was. What makes them sweet? Maltitol. As with all foods made with sugar substitutes, people need to use caution as these products can cause gastric distress. I always advise people to start out in very low doses until they're sure how their system will react.
If you can't (or simply don't) eat a lot of sugar, and you enjoy lemon-flavored cookies, I highly recommend giving these a try. My local supermarket sells the Joseph's cookies for just under $4 a bag. That's a bit more expensive than most of the other brands of sugar-free cookies.
