'Runaway' is the last and main book of the orphan series written by V.C. Andrews and in her tradition, they enhance the everyday life of the everyday person with explicit descriptions of someone else's life bringing about a sense of imagination. I was only semi-amused while reading this series because it has the same plot as ALL her others and I found myself speed reading and skipping through a lot because of this. The main characters of each mini-book are once again poor helpless victims. There is insanity, madness, money, perversion and non-consentual sex. This book held my interest because it was not the rags to riches type story V.C. Andrew usually writes. All the girls had a common bond and when they banded together and had a goal. I would recommend this book both V.C. Andrew fans as continued reading, but for new comers to her writings, I would strongly recommend it. Overall, I think the V.C. Andrews plot has become monotonous and I was bored with the book even though it was well written.
