Plot Details: This opinion reveals major details about the movie's plot.
Imagine you can teleport yourself to any place in the world, anytime you wanted. In Jumper, astounding possibilities are easily accessible.
What a Fantastic Story!
At age fifteen, David Rice (Hayden Christensen) discovers he has the ability to transport himself anywhere. What does he do? He takes himself to New York, robs banks to support himself and spends his days jumping from one place to another experiencing adventure after adventure.
Eight years later waves of revelations bombard him with hurricane force. A mysterious group wants him dead, the mother (Diane Lane) he thought abandoned him suddenly reappears and he meets Griffin (Jamie Bell) another jumper. He tries to hide in the place he grew up and reconnects with the girl to whom he lost his teenage heart. Unfortunately, his efforts to impress, puts her life in danger.
Such Terrible Execution
All elements but one were present to make this a superb film. The telling was not satisfactory. In other words, the script lacked depth. There was a great deal of information presented, but it had no ending.
Rumors of a sequel excite me. Now that they have the background out of the way, they can tell a better story. A complete story, unlike this film. The bad guy is still alive. The good guy is still alive and he got the girl. Griffin is still alive, though trapped by electricity and probably not thrilled with David. The mother who is part of the organization that wants him dead can also play a huge part.
All the doors are open for another installment. This movie would have been better if the writers had closed a few of them.
