Jungle Jim’s is a very tasty restaurant with an American cuisine. We went to the Buena Vista, Florida location this weekend which is right across the street from Downtown Disney. We called ahead for seating but found that there wasn’t a wait when we arrived.
There is a large selection of appetizers in the $8 range such as quesadillas, nachos, Buffalo wings, calamari, rib nibblers, and more.
Their specialty is hamburgers which are also in the $8 range and we’re not talking a little pad of meat either. This is ½ of a pound of top quality fresh Angus and you can certainly taste the difference. The burger is charbroiled and there is an assortment of toppings to choose from. I was actually a little difficult to pick a hamburger because there were 23 of them to choose from.
I ordered a Hungry Hippo which had bacon, ham, cheddar and jack, Safari sauce 1000, lettuce, tomato and pickle. The bun is not a standard hamburger bun; it had a firmer texture to it. I was impressed that my sandwich did not get soggy and fall apart.
Hubby ordered the Fertility Inferno which he really enjoyed, he talked about all day. It had a weird combination of southern sauce, pepper cheese, buffalo wing sauce, jalapenos, cream cheese, sour cream, lettuce, tomato and pickle.
The kids split a Monte Crisco from the adult section. This was a ham, turkey, and Monterey jack cheese on bread that was dipped in egg batter and grilled. Served with strawberry jam on the side.
All of the sandwiches come with a pile of OreIda curly fries and Heinz ketchup on the table.
There were many other sandwiches to chose from too like a Reuben, Cuban, Club, French Dip, and more also in the $8-$9 range. There are also dinner platters to choose from ranging from $10-$17 such as Fajitas, Sirloin, Ribs, Country fried steak, Chicken and pasta, and more.
The bar section has stools in the shape of elephant legs. The restaurant section has tables and booths with safari print on the cloth portions of the booths. The walls are full of color and there are statues of colorful animals all over the place. There is a game room in front.
We were sitting right next to a rhinoceros and my 2-year-old spent a lot of time talking to it. She offered it some water from her straw and gave it a French fry dipped in ketchup.
Children will like Jungle Jim’s because it has a fun atmosphere. The children’s meals run around $5 and they have all of the typical selections like hamburger, hot dog, chicken, macaroni, and pizza. The children are welcomed with crayons and a menu to color. High chairs are available.
Our waiter was nice and helpful. The atmosphere was casual and music was playing. Our kids even sat still throughout the meal aside from the rhino incident. We enjoyed the food and will be back again for another sandwich.
Jungle Jim’s was one of my frequent stops in my previous life. There are a great number of exotic drinks to choose from. Half of the restaurant is a bar, the other half is a standard restaurant and they are divided up so that it is still suitable for families. Mixed drinks are also served in the restaurant sections.
The famous drink is the Jungle Jim which has 4 shots of alcohol for $6. The souvenir mug in the shape of an elephant’s foot is just $3 more. Most of the drinks are in the $6 range and come with 3-4 shots. There are a lot of drinks on the standard menu to choose from in like frozen drinks, warm drinks, and the classics.
