About the only time I ever ate Junior Mints was at Halloween, when we'd get those miniature boxes in the Halloween bucket. I never thought about buying them. That's probably because they're so similar to Peppermint Patties. Now my son likes to get a box every time we go to the movies, and now they have the movie size boxes at Wal-Mart, so I can't get out of the store without a couple of boxes.
Price and Availability
Junior Mints come in a basic white box that bears the name of the candy and a small picture. You can always find the miniature boxes at Halloween, but typically you can find the 4.75 ounce boxes at the movie theater. That same box can now be found at Wal-Mart for 88 cents, whereas you'll pay about $5 for a box at the theater. Okay, maybe not quite that much, but you get the idea. It makes breaking the "no food brought into the theater" rule hard not to break.

Thoughts
On the back of the box, it states that Junior Mints were named after a top Broadway play in 1949 called "Junior Miss" due to the popularity of the mints at the movies. I know that most of the boxes that we've bought have been at the movies, up until recently when we started finding them at Wal-Mart. My son loves them, and I don't mind buying them for him and myself because they are a little lower in fat and calories than the typical candy or candy bar. Of course, you have to be careful if you get a full size box because there are 3 servings in just one box.
The Junior Mints could easily be mistaken with the Milk Duds if you didn't see them come out of the package. They are nickel-sized, round, creamy mints covered in dark chocolate. There are very similar to a Peppermint Patty in taste, but the peppermint center is much creamier.
Overall
I'd recommend Junior Mints as a movie treat and even outside the movie theater. For a mere 88 cents, I can't pass up the boxes for an occasional treat that's lower in calories and fat than an average candy bar. You might not get the sensation that you would with a Peppermint Patty, but these are still worth it.
