I think I may have found a new favorite restaurant to go to when I'm at Foxwoods and MGM Grand at Foxwoods and that's Junior's. This restaurant, located in the hotel lobby of MGM Grand at Foxwoods has a little bit of everything including some really mouthwatering cheesecakes and other desserts.

Where is Junior's?

There is a Junior's in Brooklyn, NY that is quite well known and this is pretty much the same restaurant, just at MGM Grand at Foxwoods. It's located off of the hotel lobby and is accessible either by going through the MGM Grand casino to the lobby or from the outside via the pool area. There's both indoor and outdoor dining spaces available.

MGM Grand at Foxwoods is located on the Foxwoods property adjacent to the original Foxwoods Casino & Resort. The entire complex is located in the southeastern corner of Connecticut off of Interstate 95.

Experiences

We lucked out and discovered that Junior's had opened on our most recent stay at the MGM Grand at Foxwoods. I first noticed it when we were in the casino and I could see all the wonderful cheesecakes and desserts out in the display cases. Junior's actually has two locations, their main dining area and then a small dessert only, take-out location in the MGM Grand at Foxwoods casino. That's where we first got a couple of desserts to take back up to our room.

The next morning we discovered that Junior's is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner and so we had lunch there while we were at the MGM Grand pool. It was a quick walk over there and it was some good food. We both had burgers and they were cooked just like we asked and the fries were really good. Our last day there we went to Junior's for breakfast and while I can usually finish just about any breakfast, I ended up having to leave some on my plate since I was so full between the pancakes, eggs and bacon.

All of our meals at Junior's made us like it more and more. The service was quick and we didn't need reservations either time we sat down, even though they are offered. The wait staff was very attentive, we had our meals quickly and everything tasted great. Even with the take-out desserts, things were easy. The line moved quickly, they had a ton of different choices and they packaged it up and provided us with everything we needed to enjoy them in the room.

Menu

What I really like about Junior's is that it's one of those restaurants with a lot of good, basic kinds of food. Burgers, sandwiches and the like. Just about everyone can find something that they'll enjoy and not only that, but there's all the favorites you'd expect to find if you were eating in Brooklyn, which isn't something you'll always find in New England.

There are appetizers that include favorites like buffalo wings and baby back ribs. There are also a full complement of salads that can be starters or entire meals in of themselves. Then you've got burgers followed by deli sandwiches, reubens, and bbq selections. For the hungrier there are also full entrees that include specials like roast turkey, beef brisket and fried chicken, along with several steak and seafood choices.

For dessert there are several different kinds of cheesecakes along with traditional desserts like apple pie, chocolate cake (mmmm...) and ice cream. Really, I had the hardest problem just picking one dessert to bring back up to the room.

A full drink menu is also available (it's a casino afterall!).

Portion Size

You get a lot for your money at Junior's, which is a good thing since this is a casino we're talking about and the prices are somewhat inflated. For all the meals, I was completely stuffed when we left and couldn't even finish the breakfast the pancakes were so big. As for that dessert, I managed to finish it, even though it was quite a good sized slice of cake.

Prices

You're in MGM Grand at Foxwoods so expect the prices to be more than you'd find at restaurants outside of the casino. That said, I thought Junior's was fairly reasonable for the amount of food you got and the good service they had, which is not something you'll find at all the restaurants in Foxwoods or nearby Mohegan Sun.

Appetizers run between about $8 and $12. Salads are about the same, though a few of the entree salads are a bit pricier. Burgers with fries and deli sandwiches average about $11. The reubens are about $14. The BBQ starts getting pricier around $20 and the entrees round out the top of the price scale with prices between $20 and $30.

Pool Service

If you are at the MGM Grand pool, there's a limited menu available that you can have while you are out at the pool. This includes a full drink menu and basically the appetizers that are available on the regular menu at Junior's.

Final Thoughts

I really liked the few meals that we had at Junior's when we last stayed at MGM Grand at Foxwoods. Everything we had tasted great, the service was good and the prices, while somewhat high, are reasonable for a restaurant in a casino.

In the end, I know when we're back at MGM Grand at Foxwoods, Junior's will be one place I want to stop, especially if we're looking for dessert.
