| barnesroberts's Full Review: Jura-Capresso Impressa E9 Espresso Machine & Coffe... |
I was surprised to find a Jura E9 super automatic machine at a YARD SALE!! It was in its original box, but missing all the accessories, but who cares! I had been limping along using an ancient Proteo machine after my Gaggia Baby started flaking out, and when I went to this sale and they asked what I was looking for, I said an espresso machine, and this is what they had.
I have always been a little concerned about the quality of the super automatics, since fixing a machine can be very expensive. However, this seems to be really fabulous. Makes excellent espresso or crema coffee. Makes good steamed milk for lattes. My foamed milk for capuccinos is not great, but according to my daughter who is a barrista, and another friend who surveyed espresso machine for a coffee house, they don't seem to think that any home machine that doesn't use 220V power can compete with the big guys. Since I am not a cappuccino fanatic, that is just fine.
The amazing thing is that I make my own espresso more often now that I have this machine. I used to buy espresso out many mornings before, just because before I have my coffee I am not always ready to grind/tamp/etc. in the morning. With this, I just push the button and if I need more water, it tells me. Need more beans? It says so. Even a brain dead morning person can operate this, and get a great cup of coffee.
It also used to be that everyone in the house did different coffee - I was the only one using the espresso machine. We are now siplified - even for regular coffee everyone uses this machine. Now I just need to decide if I should sell off my Gaggia grinder or not.
