Justice League - Season Two: And not too many come close. 99%
Written: May 11, 2011
Rated a Very Helpful Review by the Epinions community
Pros:Character development, action, very solid writing, better stories
Cons:Minor issues like a somewhat rehashed story. But nothing serious.
The Bottom Line: Excellent for comic and animation fans. And non fans will more than likely enjoy it too.
Plot Details: This opinion reveals minor details about the movie's plot.
The Earth is invaded by an alien race and the Earth's lead protector, Superman, is unable to stop the invasion alone. More of Earth's greatest heroes join the fray only to be later defeated as well. Eventually, the heroes join forces to drive off the alien invasion, and they soon realize that together, they stand a better chance in protecting the planet and its citizens. The heroes are Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Hawkgirl, Green Lantern, The Flash, and J'onn J'onzz, together they make up the Justice League.

Justice League - Season One
Apokolips, the world of the powerful being Darkseid is under attack by the Kryptonian android Brainiac, and with his forces depleted, Darkseid turns to Superman and the Justice League for assistance. The team ventures to the hell hole of a planet to help. However, Superman cannot shake the feeling that Darkseid has to be planning something. -summary
Justice League Season Two manages to make several improvements, and in the process, that elusive home run that the writers tried so desperately to hit was finally smacked out of the field. From what I can tell, all of the major flaws have been addressed here. The characterization is far better, especially, in the case of Superman where he actually lives up to being the Man of Steel for the most part. The series is much better in every aspect; production values, character development is stronger, and a budding romance actually goes somewhere.
Once again, the stories utilize the two part episode format with only one single episode, and ends with the three parter called Starcrossed. The final arc may feel like a rehash of Secret Origins, but the writing and plot twists, albeit predictable, make up for it and deliver a very satisfying conclusion to a stellar series. In truth, I found all of the arcs to be entertaining as well as gripping. Next to Transformers: Beast Wars, this is easily the most watched American animated show I own.
The action is no doubt one of the major selling points, and it wouldn't be as great if not for the animation. This time around, the computer graphics blended a lot better with the 2-D animation and everything moves with a great fluidity. The action scenes can be very good with little to no reused cels, and the all out brawls clouds up the screen with so much action that can easily be followed. I've seen many American animated shows but nothing quite like this.
The voice work is still splendid and although George Newbern may have been off in his role as Superman to many. He eventually came around and grew into the role. Kevin Conroy is still the head honcho when it comes down to Batman along with Mark Hamill as the Joker. I also got into Darkseid's character voiced by Michael Ironside.
This time around the stories are written a lot better and are very well paced. The new and returning threats are well built up and enhances the suspense; Gorilla Grodd returns with his own faction called the Secret Society, and I feel this is among the better arcs, because it shows a more human side to the Justice League, which leads to them making a decision that could damage the group. Twilight sees the Justice League defending Apokolips, and leads to a real good showdown between Superman and Darkseid. These episodes actually ride on the ending to the final arc in Superman: The Animated Series. These episodes also standout because we get to see another side to Superman's personality. Hereafter is a very solid arc, where the writers deliver their version of the Death of Superman, which takes place during a clash with a different variation of the Superman Revenge Squad. This is a very good arc that even adds in some well placed comedy. There are just some great stories here that should be seen.
Justice League Season Two caps off this first part of the series with another 26 episodes and it was no doubt a fun ride. But what I think makes it so good is that anyone can jump into it, whether they're fans of the comics or not. And the action isn't brutal to the point where kids shouldn't be allowed to watch it. Overall, this is a fine series and I recommend it to anyone who's into some type of animation.
