| cmalana's Full Review: K2 Flight ALX In-Line Skate |
I've been in-line skating on and off since 1994 and have owned 3 pairs of skates. Used to skate primarily on Roces Moscow aggressive skates (had the old Rollerblade TRS Lightning design with an aluminum frame). It finally died late last year (boot tore) and I figured it's time to buy a new one instead of getting it repaired.
I looked at several brands and models and narrowed down my search to one of the K2 skates. K2 was just a new company when I started skating and I've rented K2 skates before and found them very comfortable. Since I no longer do freestyle aggressive skating, and just wanted something to be able to do some cross-training and recreational skating in, I wanted something comfortable. I also noticed some good deals on older models.
The K2 Flight ALX has an aluminum frame, a great fitting softboot, ABEC 5 bearings and 78mm wheels out of the box. When it initially came out, it was retailing at $240...and I was surprised to see it on sale for $99 at the local Oshman's.
I have only skated on them once and found them to be very smooth and comfortable. They also seem to be more stable than my old skates (though I may need to rocker the wheels since I prefer skates that are more maneuverable). I feel that they also have a longer wheelbase. The Exo-tech cuff provides adequate ankle support.
I'm still breaking them in, but I expected to keep log lots of miles on this skate.
