Pros: 100% ticket guarantee, very low falsing, great design, and comes with numerous mounting options.
Cons: Does not have some options like text display or compass.
The Bottom Line: If you are looking for a radar detector you should seriously consider the RD650VG-2. The K40 easily will out perform any radar detector on the market.

The reason that I am in the market for a radar detector is because I like to speed and I have a driving record littered with speeding tickets. A while back I purchased a low end radar detector that I found at Walmart for a very reasonable price. The first year that I had it I received two speeding tickets. The detector was not warning me quick enough for me to slow down. The tickets that I received cost a total of $150.00 and a trip to a Saturday session of driving school. After that painful Saturday at driving school I decided that I would get a new radar detector. This time I would research what radar detector would really do the best at protecting me from a ticket.
After doing my research on the internet and talking to knowledgeable people I had three different radar detectors targeted. The nominees included the Valentine One, the Escort 8500, and the K40 RD650-VG2.
I was pretty familiar with Valentine and Escort because I stumbled upon them when I was buying my first radar detector (which ended up being a Cobra). They are both pretty good products but not good enough at the time for me to justify spending that much more.
I ended up purchasing the Cobra because it was much cheaper than the other brands. Wow what a mistake that was. It ended up costing me more because of the price of those two tickets. This time I would do it right. I was at my local independent electronics store and they referred me to the K40. It was more money then I wanted to spend but I was very impressed with all the features. The features seemed to be pretty comparable to the other targeted brands but there was one thing that blew my socks off. This company is offering to pay any speeding tickets that you get for 12 months. How are they able to do this? I asked Larry the owner of the store if this is some sort of scam. He gave me some background on K40 and referred me to the website (www.K40.com). I went home and got on the website, I decided that this is the product for me. On the website I noticed that they also make this undetectable radar detector and a laser defuser. I can not justify that big of a purchase for my Grand Am. The next day I went back to see Larry and I purchased the K40 RD650VG-2. This thing is so much better than my last purchase. It provides me with only useful information and it leaves me enough time to slow down.
It also comes with all the mounting options that you will ever need. Most radar detectors have an option called highway/city mode. The K40 does have this but they call it filter on/off.
Overall the K40 RD650VG-2 is a wonderful addition to my vehicle. It has helped me avoid speeding traps for the last couple months. I recommend it to everybody who has a heavy foot.
