Pros: Lots of functions
Cons: FM reception isn't always great without the FM antenna
Several months ago my husband hit a milestone at his place of employment so they gave him a gift album in appreciation of his efforts. We had been wanting to get a CD player for the kitchen for awhile and when we saw that as one of the choices we were excited to pick that one. After waiting for a couple of weeks for it to arrive it finally arrived via UPS.
Setting it all up...
In many ways the product doesn't have a lot of set up. The CD player is one piece and it comes with a tiny remote. The tricky part comes in when you are trying to attach the unit to your cupboard. The product comes with 4 spacers, 4 screws, and a mounting template with directions. My husband said when he used the electric screwdriver and followed the directions it didn't take him long to mount the CD player. After it is mounted you power the unit by connecting the cord to an outlet. So, it is important when picking a cupboard to mount the CD player that you pick one that has an outlet nearby.
The unit takes 3 AAA batteries that serve as a backup for the clock function. The batteries do not come with the unit.
We love the features!
This product has so many aspects to it. It has a clock and the abilities to play a CD, but it can also be a kitchen timer that has an alarm attached to it, it has AM/FM Radio, and auxilliary input from a MP3 player or other audio source. The unit can also play a CD in several different ways. There are the functions of random, repeat, and repeat all. But, you can also program a CD to play certain tracks in whatever order you want and skip over tracks you don't want. This product can do so much!
Our experience with it...
We have had the CD player up and running in our home for a few months now and we have really enjoyed it. It was really nice to have a CD player to play Christmas music during the holidays and occasionally we would try out the radio too. We did find though that the reception on a few of the stations was fuzzier than we thought it would be, but a couple of the stations came through crystal clear so we chalked it up to it just being the reception from the radio towers toward the location of the kitchen. When a station doesn't come through clear the unit sounds a little fuzzy and makes a little buzzing sound. We don't experience that at all when listening to CDs. When we hear CDs it comes through very clear and it never skips despite all the action in the kitchen. There is a FM Wire Antenna that comes with the unit that we haven't hooked up that is supposed to improve reception for FM radio. I'm sure that would make a difference.
The remote that comes with the unit can be used anywhere within site of the unit. We can be in the living room (next to the kitchen) and do every function from the remote that we can do off the unit itself. It is so convenient!
The kitchen timer is such a great function too. There are many times when I am cooking several things that I need a couple of timers and this really helps me out. I wasn't expecting a CD player to have a kitchen timer, so that has been an added bonus!
Never had an issue
We have never had an issue with the unit and have found the unit extremely easy to operate and understand. I'm not always very electronically minded and I have found this unit so easy to use and perform all the functions.
My family and I recommend this product highly to others. If you are looking for a great addition to your kitchen to get some tunes going, you will find this as a blessing in your home!
