Pros: Sleek, lightweight, space saver, not too expensive

The Bottom Line: Spend a bit more on another monitor--not this one

| lawstud's Full Review: KDS Radius RAD-5 15 inch LCD Monitor |
I did a ton of on-line research before I bought this monitor. I was upgrading from my laptop to a more powerful desktop and liked LCD screens, so I decided to stick with them when it came time to finding a monitor.
I eventually settled on the KDS RAD-5 because of the good reviews I read here and at Cnet.com, but when I eventually received the monitor I was very disappointed.
Although I was initially struck by how slim and stylish the monitor was, when I finally plugged in and booted up I was let down. Colors were dull and had a yellow/greenish tinge to them. Text was not sharp. Overall the monitor was not very bright--even after I adjusted the brightness and contrast manually. Because I do a lot of word processing and email, the fact that whites are kind of yellow and that the text is not sharp are a real disadvantage. Even when I played video games, the color scheme seemed not quite right--even after manual adjustment and tinkering.
Before I bought the Rad-5, I was using NEC's MultiSync LCD 1530V which has a much brighter display overall and does a better job of rendering colors and text. I eventually settled on a Sony SDM-S51 which is even more stylish and beautifully renders whites, colors, and text. Both of these are 15" LCD monitors a cut above, and well worth the price differential, the KDS RAD-5.
