I've been buying more of my beauty products at Whole Foods recently as they offer a nice selection of natural and organic brands. One such purchase was Kiss My Face SPF 30 Sun Screen with Oat Protein Complex.

What caught my eye was that this product is paraben-free, one of the ingredients I'm trying to avoid. I also liked that it contained 4% Titatium Dioxide, a mineral, as one of its sunscreen ingredients. This lotion also contains two chemical UVA/UVB sunscreen ingredients (Ethylhexyl Methoxycinnamate 7.5%, Ethylhexyl Salicylate 6.0%), so if you're looking for a totally chemical free sunscreen, this is not it.
Kiss My Face has also added Oat Protein and Oat Beta Glucan to their SPF 30 Sunscreen. They state that these two patented ingredients will reduce irritation and inflammation and fight against damaging free-radicals as they moisturize your skin. Additionally, Oat Beta Glucan has reduced burn cells by 80% in clinical studies.
The water-resistant sunscreen comes in a bottle that stands on its flip-top end and contains 4 ounces. I paid around $7. It has a light coconut scent. However, I expected a thicker lotion. I was quite surprised to find that this Kiss My Face sun screen is actually quite runny, a matter made worse by this flip top bottle. If you don't shut it tightly, you can end up with quite a mess.
I tested out Kiss My Face SPF 30 Sunscreen on a trip to Florida in March. I was a pale and pasty winter white and knew I needed some good strong protection as I faced the first sun of the season in sunny Florida. But I absolutely hated the consistency and almost wished I hadn't brought it. However, I loved the scent and the fact that it didn't smell like sunscreen. It went on a little greasy, but I found that it eventually absorbed well and felt dry on my skin, with the greasiness disappearing.
The sunscreen also protected quite well. I got about 3 hours worth of protection for my naturally fair skin and I came back the first day without any sunburn. Also, it definitely did seem to be water resistant as I didn't need to reapply after getting drenched in a water ride.
That being said, I'm only giving this product a rating of 3. It was difficult to reapply during the day when I was at Disney World and I really wished I had brought along an easy-to-apply spray. I just could never seem to get past the excessive runniness of this lotion. Despite the good protection it gave me, I won't be buying it again or recommending it.
