About Me: Another beautiful day in southern California!

In an Uproar

Written: Jul 27 '06
Pros:Great value, comfortable, well made and very attractive
Cons:None
The Bottom Line: The Kswiss Uproar continues the company's tradition of manufacturing great shoes that help players get to the top of their games.

I used to play a lot of tennis. Not well, mind you, but a lot. My highest USTA ranking was 3.0, which means I'm a hack. It's not the shoes, of course, it's me.

Several years ago when my son was little, I tripped over one of his toys on the stairs, turned my ankle, and have not been able to play tennis without some pain ever since. So, I've turned to the other versions of tennis that don't require so much movement - paddle tennis and ping pong (table tennis).

Paddle tennis is played primarily in southern California. It's played on a slightly smaller version of a tennis court with a tennis ball that's been deflated slightly. The racket looks something like an oversized ping pong paddle with holes in it.

No matter what I play, however, I need a good shoe that lets me move side to side quickly (or as fast as I can move anyway) without hurting my ankle. My old pair of Head tennis shoes were completely worn out, so, a few months ago, I went to the local Sports Chalet looking for a replacement.

Enter the Kswiss Uproar, a beautifully-designed shoe that not only looks great, it provides tremendous support at a great price.

The first thing that led me to the Kswiss Uproar, was its look, a great combination of red, black and white that attracted my eye and made me want to wear the shoes. Once I put them on and saw how comfortable they were, I was sold.

The KSwiss Uproar, also available in white and platinum, is a tennis shoe that works very well for playing tennis and other activities that require side-to-side motion and quick stops and starts. They are available in both men's and women's versions. The women's version, however, is available in white and platinum or white and "Carolina blue."

Intended for the "recreational tennis player who seeks optimal cushioning and durability," the KSwiss Uproarfeatures a combination of real and synthetic leather in the upper part of the shoe, light-weight compression-molding using EVA (lightweight Ethyl Vinyl Acetate) in the middle, rubber on the bottom and shock spring cushioning technology in the heel. In other words, this shoe is really comfortable! It is designed to be played on all types of surfaces, including clay.

Plusses

At a suggested retail of $65, the Kswiss Uproaris an excellent value for a tennis shoe. I wouldn't call it an unbeatable value, but it's a good one. I don't feel like I overpaid. I paid less than list price, as my local Sports Chalet had these on sale for $49.95.

Also, as mentioned, the Kswiss Uproarare very comfortable. They are lightweight, look good, have breathability and absorb shocks very well. I can get to balls that I couldn't get to with other shoes, and can wear them for hours. With my old tennis shoes, I wore them just for tennis and couldn't wait to take them off. With these, I wear them for much more than just playing tennis.

Minuses

I really can't find any minuses with this shoe. It's a great value, comfortable, well-built and should last for years.

Conclusions

I highly recommend the Kswiss Uproar. If you are looking for a well designed shoe that is comfortable and a good value, they are an excellent choice. Kswiss has a great reputation for quality tennis shoes. These shoes continue to build on them.

Now, if I can just start playing better paddle tennis.
