Pros: Clean. Thought-provoking. Enjoyable.
Cons: Traumatic theme not hinted at in previews, comes as a shock in otherwise humorous movie.
The Bottom Line: Go with adult friends you enjoy spending time with and plan for coffee afterwards to discuss the best and worst parts.

My mother and I left this movie delighted. It is so rare to see a movie with so few objectionable parts. Yes, the underlying plot was harsh, painful, violent, but the director didn't force it upon you too heavily, and only briefly. The one scene where Jeff Bridges is walking through the abandoned house (I'm working desperately not to give it away) was very difficult to handle, and unexpected in context, while the rest of the movie was light and humorous.
What I liked, especially, was the dangling end. So, what really happened? I have discussed this movie with people more than most, because we all left scratching our heads, "So, was he really from K-Pax!!!???" And, "What happened to the woman??"
So, that makes it fun, even after you leave the theater. Many will be frustrated rather than challenged by this end. If you don't like a mysterious ending, this isn't for you.
