Pros: Well maintained complex close to Kona but hidden
Cons: Limited waterfront availability
The Bottom Line: I would recommend Kanaloa without hesitation to anyone looking for a great location in traditional Hawaii with a bit of seclusion.

We stumbled on to this complex by sheer accident while surfing the Web for Kailua-Kona. To my knowledge there is only one agent for these condos in the 48 - Hawaiian Condo Exchange of West Hollywood, CA - ask for Ray. That said, H.C.E. offers superb service and is very attentive to trying to meet your requests for location within the complex.
It is hard to tell but the impression is that in spite of the fairly large number of units in the complex, surprisingly few are available for vacation rent. Try to get a waterfront location. there is no increased charge for the location and each unit has its own veranda for breakfast and evening cocktails watching the sunset.
The units are very clean and nicely decorated. The complex is very well located just south of Kailua-Kona near some of the more highly publicized resorts and Kona Country Club (Ocean Course) runs along one side. There are a couple of tennis courts, three pools and a nice recreation room, though who wants to be inside when in Hawaii?
The complex does have a nice restaurant within the grounds - Edwards. The food is quite good and the atmosphere very romantic, being right on the water, but it's a little overpriced (even for Hawaii) and a bit hyped. But the service is excellent and did I mention very romantic?
The big island certainly isn't for everyone. we've been going there for several years and truly enjoy the quiet and slower pace compared to Oahu and Maui. It isn't as visually spectacular as Kauai but there is more to do so it fits our objective of being quiet with plenty of things to do if the spirit moves us.
