edamames's Full Review: Karaoke Revolution for Xbox
If you like to sing or like music, this game is fun. Basically, it's a karaoke video game. You select a character, a outfit and a song to sing. You sing the songs as the words scroll across the screen. You get points based on how well you can get the right pitch of the song. If you do poorly, the 'audience' watching your character boos and leaves. You can also unlock songs, characters and outfits in different play modes by winning gold or platinum records.

We originally bought Karaoke Revolution Vol. 3 (Playstation 2) for my brother in law. We had so much fun with it that we ended up buying the xbox Karaoke Revolution bundle (includes handheld microphone) for my brothers. We went to Toys R Us and saw the game on sale for $9.99 (without the microphone) and thought it was a good deal and bought it. The only thing is, it's hard to find a handheld microphone for an xbox so we had to settle for a communicator headset instead which actually works out better because you can hear your voice in the earpiece. With the game, headset and some adaptor for the xbox controller, we paid about the same price as the bundle.

As one can see, there's a good variety of song styles. This game is good for an older crowd who would be more familiar with the songs.
Obviously, if you're shy, you won't do well playing this game with a group. It's more fun when you get a group of people together since they will probably join in and sing with you.
One drawback that I ran into is that you need to know the songs in order to 'master' the game. There are some songs on the list that I never heard before. Fortunately, we had some friends over who knew some of the songs so that helped.
I like this game because it's not violent nor complicated. It's a relatively clean game to what's out there these days.
