| Magick1's Full Review: Kashi Tlc Crunchy Granola Bar, Roasted Almond Crun... |
If you are on the lookout for items that are better for you or if you are trying to eat less processed foods, KASHI items really should be something that you are on the lookout for in the stores. I am always watching to see what new items my local stores, either Wal-Mart or grocery stores. The Product
I am sure most reading this have had a granola bar at one time or another. These granola bars are the hard, crunchy style with the bits of oat and almonds visible without straining. These bars are roughly 4 inches long by roughly 1 ½ inches wide and a little bigger than a ¼ of an inch thick. The bars look like they are coated with a cinnamon powder but it is (I am guessing) the evaporated cane juice crystals. It looked to be a darker brown, but did not have a cinnamon taste.
The granola bars are filled with oats and contain 4 grams of fiber per serving which is 2 bars! These bars contain nothing artificial, which I enjoy. So much of the foods on the market nowadays are artificially flavored, colored and so processed there cannot be much original, actual food in them! The Kashi products are help changing that and they are keeping flavorful, healthier options out there. And, the plus is that these items taste great and not like cardboard!
These bars contain the following ingredients (per the wrappers or the box):
KASHI Seven whole grains & sesame®blend, (whole: oats, hard red winter wheat, rye, barley, triticale, long grain brown rice, buckwheat, sesame seeds), evaporated cane juice crystals, expeller pressed canola oil, natural roasted almond butter, soy protein isolate, almonds, chicory root fiber, honey, rice starch, wheat germ, evaporated salt, gum Arabic, soy lecithin, sodium bicarbonate, natural flavor, mixed tocopherols for freshness.
Contains: Wheat, almond and soy ingredients. May contain traces of other trees nuts.
The nutrition facts are based upon each serving (2 granola bars) and based upon a standard 2,000 calorie diet or daily intake. This information is taken off of the wrapper and the box and is as follows:

Overall Impressions
I enjoy Kashi and so far, everything I have tried has had a decent flavor, good amounts of protein and or fiber and I have been pleasantly surprised. These granola bars are decent as well. One thing I wished they would have had more of was almonds. You can see little bits there and there, but I would have likes to have larger slivers or even decent chunks mixed into the granola bars.
The flavor is nice, somewhat sweet and fulfilling for my sweet tooth without the high cost of eating snack foods with NO substance whatsoever. These are easy to store too. I keep a box in my desk for those mornings where I just don’t get going quickly enough and need something for breakfast. They hold quite a while. I have had a box in my desk for about a month and the expiration date isn’t until June 2009. So, a decent shelf life (I think) for natural food item!
I enjoy seeing the large oats, pieces of almond, sesame seeds and the other items like wheat, rice, etc. These bars are very crunchy. If you have a rough time chewing crunchy items or biting off a piece of something fairly hard, these might not be for you. You might want to check out their “Tasty Little Chewies” version of the granola bars are these are softer, easier to bite and are also very delicious. I personally love these: Kashi Cherry Dark Chocolate Chewy Granola Bars: www1.epinions.com/review/content_424432602756
You might truly enjoy the flavor, the big pieces of oats, rice, barley, etc. that you can see that have not been ground up into powder. The flavor is nice, satisfies a sweet tooth (at least mine) and makes the hungry feelings stay away for a while. It’s a good breakfast or snack food in the middle of the day. These are so easy to take along anywhere! I hope you enjoy them if you try them! ~Thanks for spending time with me today!~
