Hi I think I saw cabins! I've wanted to go back but it seems that we just drive right through when we go to visit my mom who lives in southern FlA. Thanks for stopping by:) jo

Hanna Park is very close to where I grew up, by close I mean a mile away. I lived just off of Mayport Rd. It has always been a beautiful place, especially for it being located in such a cruddy area of Jacksonville.
The lake is nice, we usually rent a paddle boat or kayak. Although we live really close, we do camp there from time to time, and now they have actual cabins, but require very advanced reservations because of their popularity.
True, there is no restaurant, but it is an excellent place for a picnic.
The water play area, however, is cruddy.
ANd it is a great place for an Easter Egg Hunt.

Those bike paths sound COOL! Can't wait to try one; used to do it on skis all the time. I'll get really drunk first and sing Van Halen songs the whole time.
By the way Javelina, Vermont parks are cheap because only 4 people live here. We gotta eat somehow.

...across the country make them a model of their kind, Jo. They really are at the level of the best a quality guidebook could offer.
Excellent work, this review, and others of its ilk!
cheers, and thanks,

you can count on the bugs :) They're MUCH worse in summer though! I grew up about an hour north of Jacksonville so we know that area pretty well.
Great review!

Cabins (Reply to this comment)

I'm surprised how inexpensive the cabins are! I've stayed at a Vermont State Park where the cabins are $80-something a night! Amazing how parks are always so different!
