| Lee_Dee's Full Review: Katz's Deli |
I remember the signs so well. From my first visit at age 8 to just last month when we trekked into the city on a Saturday. I adore Katz's Deli, and just not for the atmosphere. It reminds me of family gatherings when I was growing up. The food is delicious, and the aroma hits you the minute you walk in the store.
Where did the sawdust go? I remember it so strongly from when I was a child, its gone now. The signs remain, and still I read them over and over while waiting for my order. What to choose? Everything is fantastic.
I go for the Pastrami on Rye with mustard. What else could I do, that is my all time fave sandwich. Don't forget the pickles and cole slaw! I tap 2 shiny new quarters on the counter as the deli man makes my dish. He glances up and I comment on how hungry I am for some good pastrami. He piles it on the plate, hot, stringy and fatty. Just the way I like pastrami sandwiches.
The ticket! Don't lose the ticket, or you can't leave the Deli. Would that be so bad? I would get used to it very quickly. I purchase a salami for my guy who is not in the Army, and make my way out of the store.
Already I miss the aroma.
