This restaurant should be on everyone's to do the first thing I fly into New York City. This deli has not changed since it opened in the 40's. The same tables and chairs are there.
When you walk in,the server gives you a ticket. You then proceed to go to different parts of the long counter to order. The best is the pastrami on rye. Make sure you tip the man who is making the sandwich as your sandwich will be bigger. If you want drinks or kinishes, then you have to go to the other sections. After you get your food, the counterman punches a whole into your ticket.
You then go to any table to eat and then pay your bill. You go to the front of the deli with your ticket in hand. The cashier rings up the bill and you pay.
This is part of old New York. History is right there. Definitely make this a must stop for a great meal. You can take home your left overs. Yes, there will be left overs.
Try it.
