since there are many type of sleeping bags for the casual camper, one has to decide what type of camping you like to do, what type of season that you want to camp in, and what type of area (family camping, states parks, etc.) that you want to camp at. Since casual camping does not require you to " pack in " your equipment, weight does not need to be addressed.
The kelty light top 55 provides decent comfort with sufficient warmth for the late spring to early fall camping season. It is light enough to carry from the car to your camp site without being too bulky to case you to trip because you cannot see over the bag. Its light enough for the kids to carry.
Used with any sleeping pad provides the comfort most people need for casual camping. And it provides the warmth that is needed for moderately cool nights.
The last couple of things to say about this bag is that it is durable enough for the casual camper, will not take up a lot of space in your tent, and is not hard to unzip or zip up. And for the price you have yourself a decent sleeping bag.
