Pros: great stability in wind, allows breeze through
Cons: somewhat difficult for one person to set up
I was looking for a stable shelter for shade on the beach while we camp, and purchased a medium Sunshade last year (medium is plenty big) We have two little kids who like to swim and play in sand, and most beaches have few trees for shade. This shelter allows you to stay on the beach for hours, and would also be perfect for families that need shade for adults, babies, or toddlers while older kids play in the water. You can adjust the height by varying how close together you place the three tent poles. My husband is very tall, and it's no problem for him to duck under the sides. There's plenty of shade underneath, even when the sun is low, and the design allows for plenty of breeze. It's extremely stable in windy conditions, and we've never had to use the extra guy wires. We've tried beach umbrellas, which blow away, and a cabana, which is too small and doesn't allow a breeze through. Although one person can set this up with a little difficulty, it's much easier with two people. I'm mechanically incompetent, and my 7-year old and I can set this up easily in about 5 minutes. It's too heavy for backpacking, but perfect for typical family car campers. We also use it back at the campsite over the picnic table when it rains. Absolutely worth the investment!
