When we purchased our home fifteen years ago it came with a window air conditioner in our living room. We had been using this air conditioner until last year when it finally died. Since our old unit was a Kenmore, my husband wanted to stick with Kenmore since that one lasted so long. With doing some research online I found the Kenmore 25000 BTU ThruWall/Window Air Conditioner.

We knew we wanted a large unit because we live in a ranch style home and this air conditioner would need to cool the living room and kitchen. We already had a unit in our back bedrooms so we needed it to cool these two rooms. We also knew we wanted a window air conditioner since that is what we already had. We were also looking for a 220 volt because that was what was installed

The Kenmore 25000 AC comes in white and measures 25” x 18.6” x 26.5”. It weighs 122 pounds. It took two of us to install the unit because of its weight. The AC has a cooling BTU of 25000 and room coverage of 1672 square feet. It is a window air conditioner with a 5 foot 220 v cord. The 75251 has an 8 way air direction with three cooling speeds and three fan only speeds. The unit comes with a remote control and is energy star compliant. It also has an antibacterial mesh filter that is easy to remove and clean.

You can control the unit with the remote or with the easy to operate touchpad on the front of the unit. We use the remote more than we do the pad on the front of the air conditioner. The buttons on the remote and on the pad are all clearly marked and self-explanatory. There is a temperature light on the front of the air conditioner and on the remote. You can turn the temperature up or down; put the unit into sleep mode or on a 12 hour timer.

The remote does require 2 AAA batteries.  It is white in color. It has an on/off switch, an indicator light, buttons to adjust the temp and time, buttons to set fan speeds, set modes, a button to activate remote sensing and a timer. The touch pad has a remote sensor indication, a temperature and time display, an infrared remote window, a filter reset button, timer, set mode button, arrows to adjust the temperature and time, an on off button, a set speed button with auto, high, med and low and a sleep mode. We like that the 75251 comes with a sleep timer and an auto restart so if you lose electricity it will automatically come back on when the power comes back on.

You can set the air conditioner to come on automatically at a certain time. My son has this set up as we normally turn our air conditioner off at night because we don’t need it. He has it set that it automatically starts up at 11 am every morning before the house starts to warm up.

The unit is easy to operate. It is programmed to start in the cool mode with a high fan and a temperature setting of 72 degrees.  You can easily adjust the mode by pressing the mode button. The temperature can be adjusted by using the up and down arrows.

The unit is a lot quieter than our older unit but you can still hear it running. It cools our home efficiently without any issues.

We try and clean the unit once a month. We wash and dry the filter and wipe off the outside of the unit. We do keep the unit in our window year round.

The 75251 comes with a one year limited warranty which we did not have to use. Over the past year we have not had any issues with our Kenmore 75251 Air Conditioner.

We had purchased the 25000 BTU ThruWall/Window Air Conditioner at Sears for $599.99. Kenmore was more reasonably priced then other 25000 BTU units I had looked at. We have seen the unit sold in stores and online.

If you are looking for an air conditioner to cool a larger area, we would recommend the Kenmore 75251 25000 BTU ThruWall/Window Air Conditioner as it is easy to use and works well.
