Pros: Low water use; low detergent use; clean clothes
Cons: High initial cost
We run about 6 loads a week, sometimes more, and since November 2002, this machine has (so far) run flawlessly. Our clothes and linens are clean without harm; I even wash cashmere sweaters on the delicate cycle, with cold water. You don't have to use special detergent: just use less of your regular (1 tablespoon of Tide Free or Woolite for us; a container lasts at least 6 months). Living with a well and septic system, we especially appreciate its low water usage.
We have had only 2 problems, both easily corrected. A few years ago, it wasn't draining; inspection revealed a grandchild's sock in the outlet, which had attracted lots of miscellaneous grunge. Cleaning the drain hose and the filter fixed the problem immediately. Because of the enormous stresses of the high-speed spin, the machine must be level and secure or it will indeed walk. We adjust it about every year-18 months.
Odors have never been a problem, but we do live in a dry climate and always leave the washer door open.
