I carefuly researched my recent purchase - found out that this model was a leading consumer guide's top pick. Read all I could on the Whirlpool site (who makes this for Sears) and determined that this was the machine for me. Got real nervous when I read about the some of the problems that
previous reviewers said they had on same/similar models -- but, Sears had an additional 10% off of sales price which was already $100 off regular price and took a leap of faith. So far, turned out to be a good jump for me.
Had a white shirt with red pen ink stains on pocket - ruined by most standards - size of dime - through all layers and the seam. Treated with HE Tide, used Clorox per recommended amount, sent through whitest whites - came out with just a slight tint of pink. Without drying, while still damp, did the same thing again and WOW all gone. I was impressed. Previously, no matter what, stain never came out completely after dozens of washing and no mater what was used as a pretreat. I generally ruin one-two shirts per year with the pen in a pocket trick.
Read reviews about how shirts "just came out cleaner and brighter" and I thought that was B.S.- because I have never know anything that was ever advertised that would give you "brighter" colors to work. Guess what? - dingy, drab,
dirty water stained shirts and dirty areas around collar and cuffs are now comming out cleaner without pre-treating both for whites on the whitest whites setting and for permanent press on the causual setting -- with regular Tide Liquid and only 1/2 the amount of detergent.
Reviewer who said baby sleeps near washer must have baby that will sleep through a tornado. Yes, machine is quiet on wash - just purrs and sprays along, but on spin cycle it is almost as noisy as my old whirlpool and my son would have never slept through the spin cycle. (yes it is level)
I have washed everything in the house (except curtains that are not washable) and have now run out of things to wash - with no problems. Reviewer that claimed there were "dry" spots on thick things was not problem for me without any cycle changes ;however, I routinely use the "saturated soak" and "2nd spin" on all my cycles. I think that contributes to my cleaner clothes.
I highly recommend this washer.
