Just got the Kenmore Elite HE5 Dryer. After using it for the very first time the thing cut off in the middle of the normal drying cycle and the lights just Blinked. After reading several Epinions posts on this problem, I tried to tighten up the door hinges. This did not completely do the trick. After a little more poking and prodding, I discovered that the top door sensor was not catching the latch in the right place. It is a floating hinge system that has a little play in it, which causes the door catches (top and bottom) to sometimes not align properly. I tried giving the door a slight upward lift before closing; it worked, even the sound of it closing was different. (I heard two distinct Clicks).
I purchased this product because I was able to get 35% off with no sales tax, and I trust the Kenmore name. I love the color, style and the sharp design. Kenmore took the time to build a nice LOOKING product, with nice features such as the auto dry cycles. It really takes the guesswork out of choosing the right cycle for the load your drying. It's also as Quiet as a church mouse on Easter Sunday, However if you put more than five bed sheets in, it will twist them and not dry them completely. Towels and washcloths come out perfect. I loaded 12 towels in and they dried without a hitch. I also love the sensing feature that can tell how your clothes are drying and automatically adjust the drying time. It even has a check the lint screen reminder before each cycle and will not start until you do, I found this very impressive as it will help cut down on dryer fires.
My only dislike is the door system; it should have come with proper closing instructions so people dont try SLAMMING them shut (which is exactly what I did until I figured it out.) I also purchased the matching HE5t washer and will post a write up on this soon.
