| waynerz's Full Review: Kenwood KDC-MPV619 Car CD/ MP3 Player |
If you are a patient semi-computer savvy person who is looking for an easy on the budget MP3 player this is the unit for you.
The fact that the unit plays MP3s, has a play&pause button and has a Display that can change colors every few seconds is every reason to buy it outright.
After spending a few days doing some web surfing I found applications to get around the limited function of the Random play... The random button will only pick songs from 1 folder. So if you have multiple Albums on the MP3 cd and organize them by folders you are out of luck if you want to randomize the whole CD. Utilities out there make it possible to mimic shortcuts to all the songs on the CD and keep the list in 1 folder so you can now play with random on and be able to listen to the whole CD instead of 1 album at a time.
Luckily this unit plays CD-RW discs so this trial and error process did not cause me to have a stack of coasters sitting next to me.
The Play/Pause button along with the Attenuator (semi-mute) button are also a great bonus for those who have cell phones or kids in the car.
The sound quality is a little bland out of the box, but manual tweaks took care of this semi-problem and I couldn't be happier.
According to other reviews I had read about this unit, some people had problems with the unit skipping.. I have tried to make it skip by driving over potholes and such, no luck, this unit will not skip on me.
